Dixie is my mom's registered Spotted Saddle Horse mare. She is around 14 years old, and about 15 or so hands.

    She came to us last summer with her 4 month old stud colt, Cisco, by her side. He is now a beautiful yearling, and you can see him at his own page to the left.

    When we got Dixie she was very malnourished. She lacked bone and weight, though she had a large hay belly from being out in pasture 24/7 with no grain diet. Her job had been to simply ger in foal and pop out babies, and I think the reason they sold her was she threw a solid palomino colt this last time, and didn't want the chance of getting another solid. They said she had also been trail ridden everywhere...I'll talk on that one later.

    So we put her on a good diet, got her wormed and shot her up with everything she needed in vaccines. (Her owners didn't believe in vaccinations, sad) Here is a picture of her not long after we got her.
